smith westerns - end of the night
I really don’t think I’m bred for monogamy. I can’t commit.
“I was here before you met me, out in the city, the cold, cold city and I’ll be here once you’ve left me.”
Chicago violence is getting so out of control, especially amongst youth. This story just breaks my heart and brings me to tears, I can’t begin to imagine what his mother is feeling.
So, I just landed in Chicago from Miami, haven’t slept in almost a day so the minute I get home I lay down for a nap. 20 minutes later I am awakened by a beeping sound which is coming from my carbon monoxide detector with a blinking red light which says it detects a lot of it and to move to fresh air. Slightly thereafter, I realize all the electricity not only my apartment, but my entire building has gone out. Now I wonder, did my carbon monoxide detector go off because of a power surge or was it genuinely because of the gas?
I’m exhausted, all I want to do is nap, now I’m just fearful that if it isn’t a false alarm I’ll be a goner. But I can’t seem to bring myself to stay awake for much longer. At least it will be peacefully in my sleep, right?
So in case that happens- love you all!
Sincerely, Valerie.
